Would You please include Anne MacTavish on your prayer list. Anne was an active member of our parish until she moved to be closer to family.

Anne is in a steep decline in the last few weeks; going from living in her own apartment to not being able to get out of bed without assist and being extremely confused. Your prayers are urgently needed and appreciated.

Blessings to all!

Lana

Michael Libby 1977 – 2019

Tom Browning:
Thank you to all for your continued thoughts and prayers for our nephew, Michael Libby. At 6:30 Texas time this morning, Mike went to be with the Lord after a hard fought battle against injuries suffered in an accident at the ranch he and his wife managed.
He was a great son to his parents Joe and Debby Libby, husband to Katrina Libby , and dad to Cheyenne Libby and Austin West. He was a brother to be looked up to by Craig Libby, Adam Libby, Rachael Libby, and Stephanie McLaughlin, and a great friend to many, we will all miss him more than words can say. You are gone too soon, we love you Mikey.

Please pray for our nephew, Mike Libby. He suffered a horrible accident after haying on his ranch in Texas. After having all of his ribs crushed and a collapsed lung, he has developed Sepsis, and is not doing well. The power of prayer can make all the difference.

Love and prayers,
Tom and Joyce Browning

Update on John Ries

The following has been contributed by a member of the Saint Edward Email News and Prayer Request Network for your information:

Dan and I have to leave on Saturday. We think Dad is going to be discharged to a Rehab facility by Monday if all goes as planned. We are requesting it would be the facility closest to their home here in Chapin.

Dad was weaned down to 2 liters of oxygen as of yesterday and was able to walk a little further with assistance and a walker yesterday as well.

The two biggest challenges now are the ongoing fatigue and de-conditioning and the horrible mouth sores and thrush he developed in the past few days that is making it very hard to get nutrition into him.

We will be heading into hospital soon to see how he is doing today and find out what doctor thinks and to focus on discharge.

Update on John Ries

The following has been contributed by a member of the Saint Edward Email News and Prayer Request Network for your information:

Dad is settling into the step down unit (IMCU) today (4/30) and we are realizing that the past week has taken its toll on his body.

His mental state is more aware and clearer each day, but now we just have to allow time for the antibiotics and respiratory therapy to work in improving his pneumonia. He remains on 6 liters of oxygen and tires easily.

They tried to get him up walking this AM, but he quickly became fatigued and his oxygen saturation levels dropped into the 70’s and so they just got him positioned in a chair and had him sit up for a bit until he recovered.

He is eating and drinking pretty well and getting rest in between treatments, but is very tired.

The doctor who rounded on him today talked about the possibility that he may need to go to an outpatient rehab facility before transitioning to home. He will not be leaving the hospital until his oxygen needs decrease and that is just going to take time for the antibiotics and the therapy to help things along.

We will be talking with a hospital social worker tomorrow to discuss options for transition when he is ready.

Subject: John Ries update
Dad is slowly improving. He was moved out of the ICU today to the step down unit late this afternoon. He has been much more alert and aware and recognizes family and is asking frequently about “Vin the show beagle.” He still has some interesting stories to tell and odd dreams as his brain is still coming out of the effects of the ICU and various medication changes.
He is doing respiratory therapy and remains on oxygen to support his pneumonia.
He is able to eat and drink now, but is not real thrilled with the hospital food offerings. We are going to have to smuggle in some decent options for him.
He is working hard to participate in all of his treatments and is motivated to get well. He will likely need to be in the hospital through the end of the week.
We have all been so thankful for everyone’s love and support.
